1. Recognise that looking after your mental and physical health is your top priority
Without your health you will not be able to care for others, fulfil your maximum potential or indeed do all the things you desire in your life. Ayurveda defines health as not just the absence of disease but a state of harmony which includes the proper functioning of the mind, all body systems, healthy relationships and a fulfilled spiritual way of living, thinking and being. This way we learn to focus on prevention and don't get in to a state where we need to be fixed. Most of us take our cars to a garage for an MOT every year but how many of us take the time and money to give our minds and body a regular service to keep ourselves in top condition? It's often only after become ill or are injured we are reminded just how important our health is and how we have taken it for granted. Remember we (Love and Wisdom Ayurveda Therapies) are here, ready willing and able to help. Our Ayurvedic Consultation will help you to diagnose and fix the problems and keep your motor running smoothly and happily for a long and healthy life.

2. Take responsibility for your health, your happiness & your actions

Doctors and health professionals do their very best to help you. Despite incredible advances in medicine there remains no miracle cure and no quick fix. Most medicines work by suppressing symptoms. Ask yourself why am I unwell or not feeling great? What can I do to make it better? Empower yourself, have some self control (bramacharaya). A surgeon may remove infected tissue from a smoker and give him some pills, but if the patient continues to smoke then the problem persists and will get worse. The same philosophy applies to our lifestyle as a whole, our attitudes, diet, relationships and other factors which affect our health. Neena says, "My job as an Ayurvedic therapist is to hold up a mirror, to help you see the factors which could enhance your health and happiness. We'll listen closely to you and your issues. Our Ayurvedic Consultation will enable you to be more aware of your behaviour or other lifestyle indicators which may be holding you back or causing your poor health. We'll show you simple ways to help fix the problem such as advice on what to eat, what is the best course of exercise for you, how to bring about positive thinking naturally. It's inevitable that by empowering yourself and taking responsibility for your wellbeing you will feel so much better. This long-term solution does require effort, dedication and a desire to change the root causes; it however is so much more rewarding than a temporary plaster.

 3. Love yourself & you will be better equipped to love others
Ayurveda believes we are part of the Divine. The Divine exists within us all - it is our spirit; it is the only thing that is everlasting and eternal in our world where change is part of every moment. When you have self-worth you are more likely to love, be healthy, be caring, be compassionate, be forgiving and less likely to harm yourself or others. You are less likely to be swayed by peer pressure or the latest fad and more likely be in tune with your own body and do what you know is right. This is what we call ahimsa - or non-violence. It applies very much to our inner world of thoughts as much as it does to our actions and words. Getting to know yourself better is the purpose of life according to Ayurvedic philosophy. At Love and Wisdom we will show you simple meditation techniques and pranayama (yoga breathing exercises) to help you tap in to the beauty of your spiritual nature or your inner Goddess as I like to call it. We've also got massages and beauty treatments to help kick start the feel good factor.

 4. Be content & grateful for all the amazing and unique talents you've been blessed with (Have fun & laugh a lot)
Happiness is just a state of mind. When you connect with your spiritual nature, you become more aware of the wonder of you and the wonders of the Universe we live in. When we are grateful, we have a more positive attitude to life and in turn a more compassionate loving nature. If you feel you have lost your way and troubles seem like mountains - we're here to show you just how wonderful you are and all the great things you are capable of achieving. Life coaching is part of our service. Neena's advice to you is, "If you are unhappy about something write a list of all the things you are grateful about in your life every night before you go to bed. Soon that mountain will become a molehill and you will no longer be afraid to move forwards."

5. Be truthful & practice honest self reflection
Truth (satya) that comes from pure intention is a great healer. Ayurveda says to be healthy we should not suppress our natural urges such as when we want to go to the toilet we must do so. In a similar way, we should not suppress the truth. Being truthful about how we feel and being able to communicate honesty and kindly to ourselves and to others is very important. Pretending everything is OK or burying your head in the sand will ultimately lead to sadness and poor health.

6. Live a non-greedy life

Earning money is a positive aspect of your life because it opens up more possibilities and gives you freedom to pursue to your goals. A comfortable income gives you a chance to provide for your family and take part in a wider range of fun activities with your friends. It also gives you the time to get to know yourself better and the opportunity and satisfaction of sharing your wealth with those less fortunate. Exploiting and profiting from the hardship of others or stealing from them will ultimately lead to unhappiness and therefore ill health. Hoarding possessions is also not a good trait as it means you do not have faith in yourself and the Universe to provide these things again. Collecting anything can easily become an unhealthy, expensive and unnecessary obsession. Money is not the root of all evil; it can easily become one though if we get too greedy for wealth, fame or even food. Greed also applies to how much you eat. Ayurveda says a healthy portion of food is the amount we can fit in to the palm of our hands. Let Love and Wisdom advise you on food that will nourish your mind, body and soul.

7. Put a 100% of effort in your work

Doing a job you love is a great way to feel fulfilled and happy. It boosts your self image and sense of worth. Having a job or role in life is a wonderful aspect of our daily routine. Ayurveda believes to be content; we need to be happy in what we do and give a 100 per cent of our effort at all times (tapas). That doesn't mean we should work all the time; just when we are at work we should make the most of it. The more we earn, the more time we should get to spend with our family and friends and doing things we enjoy - which makes us even happier. So there should be a balance like in all things.

 8. Daily cleanse your body & mind
Take time to do daily cleansing rituals. Having a wash every morning and evening is refreshing and stimulating, preparing you for the day. Wearing fresh, clean, pressed clothes also helps to lift the sprits. At Love and Wisdom we make lots of lovely lotions and potions to help you feel good and cleanse yourself with our natural products which are kind to you and kind to the planet. We also offer lessons in daily spiritual cleansing or meditation and pranayama.

9. Take regular exercise
We all understand to be fit and healthy we need to make some sort of exercise that we enjoy part of our daily routine. Couch potatoes get fat, feel sluggish and get depressed. Gym bunnies who do too much exercise can also be depressed because lack of self worth can be the driving force behind their behaviour. As the old saying goes, "Everything is good in moderation". At Love and Wisdom we advise you on the right type of exercise for your Ayurvedic body type. Our Yoga Therapy programme can also help you to heal specific ailments and help you to improve your flexibility, strength and stamina.

 10. Breathe & enjoy each moment

Breath is essential to life. It is life. Breathing is also the highway to your inner Divinity or God. When you expand your breathing capacity, you expand your life force and become closer to your spiritual nature. The more you connect, the better you will feel about your self and therefore the happier you will be. The happier you become, the better and more harmonious your relationships will become and the more rewarding your work and life will become. Breathing is a form of devotion. (For atheists, who say they do not to believe in God means they still actually have a faith because non-belief is a belief - they still choose to believe in values and a code of conduct for an ethical life.) Love and Wisdom highly recommends our pranayama classes to everyone. We will show you ways of how to make the most of each breath and each moment of your life and to unlock the huge rewards that come from getting to know yourself better.
